Established in September 2017 in the heart of Itaewon, Seoul, P21 has been dedicated to presenting contemporary art of the 21st century. Unbound by medium or generation, the gallery has introduced a carefully curated selection of emerging and established artists from both Korea and abroad. Its program has centered on key themes such as the subversion of order, materiality, and artistic agency. With a growing focus on international engagement, P21 has actively explored the Korean diaspora while introducing leading global artists to the Korean audience through diverse and in-depth exhibitions.
In April 2024, P21 relocated to a new space just 100 meters from its original location, marking a significant new chapter for the gallery. This move represents more than a physical transition—it signals a renewed commitment to deepening its programming, expanding institutional collaborations, and participating in major international art fairs. Through these efforts, P21 seeks to broaden the global reach of Korean artists and establish a more balanced and dynamic platform.
P21은 2017년 9월 서울 이태원 중심부에 개관하여 21세기 동시대 현대미술을 집중적으로 소개해 오고 있다. 매체나 세대 구분에 얽매이지 않고 국내외 역량 있는 차세대 작가와 중진 작가 모두를 엄선하여 선보여 왔다. 질서의 전복, 물질성의 탐구, 작가의 주체성 등을 프로그램의 핵심 주제로 다뤄 왔으며, 국제적으로 확대된 프로그램으로 다양하고 심도 있는 전시를 통해 ‘코리안 디아스포라’를 탐구하고 해외 유수 작가들을 국내에 소개하는 데 주력하고 있다.
2024년 4월, P21은 기존의 공간에서 도보로 100m 떨어진 곳으로 이전하여 새로운 공간을 선보인다. 새로운 시작을 알리는 공간 개관을 통해 단순히 물리적인 이동뿐만 아니라 더욱 다양하고 심도 있는 전시를 선보이며 국내외 기관과의 활발한 협력과 주요 국제 아트페어 참가를 통해 국내 작가들의 국제적 저변 확대를 도모하며 균형 있는 프로그램을 구축하고자 한다.
